wad makes a good doctor? personality or knowledge?? doctors have been recognised by ppl to be someone who have great knowledge and know almost everything. even when u r talking to the patients..they will said to u:
"you got lots to learn aye!?"
well, i guess so..we study for longer time to complete our course compare to other professions. we study books as well as person. we need to know alot in order to be a good doctor. but will we be a great doctor without good personality? i doubt so...someone can pretend to be very kind and nice in front of patients but act totally differently when they r facing their colleague and friends.
"u've got a lovely smile" some ppl said
"u've been really gentle to ppl, tat's so nice of u" some others will said
but r those personalities great enuff to bring u to a success in the future? but u need to haf some substance as well, being nice without substance..wad type of doctors will u be..if u make a diagnosis wrongly, give the wrong treatment..it will be a disaster as well.
so...Knowledge vs. Personality who will win? which is more important in this career..? both r required but which is more likely to make u a better doctor?

Had a bedside teaching this afternoon with my usual group ppl. n we were looking at this pt's echo's result as he got pericardial effusion (fluid collection of the sac around the heart). all we see is this little heart just like a little baby struggling in a tiny room...and there is not much movement and the heart is not really pumping and working.
"how does a normal heart look like?" all of us wonder
couldnt find a pt with normal heart echocardiogram.
"why dun we just do it on ourselves to see a normal heart?" a bright idea came to our minds
as the only guy in our group...i've to volunteer myself and expose my heart to everyone ^^
echocardiogram is just like ultrascan that we use to scan the baby for the pregnant lady..but scan on the heart this time. by lying on my side...the gel was apply on my chest...
ahh...now i know how uncomfortable the cold feeling is like especially in winter!! @@ i tell myself...
and there it is...my heart appeared on the screen. it looks healthy (deh..) and pumping real hard. it has been working for 22 years without stopping..and he never complain anything bout tat. LOL

no reply...guess he's too busy on his work. better dun bother him...but it looks cool on the monitor...the valves open and close like 2 little hands of a baby. anyway...tat's really COOL!
